Introduction
The Eastern League was a minor league baseball league that operated in the eastern United States during the late 19th century. It was formed when the New York State League joined with Canadian teams based in Ontario. It was known as the International League in 1886 and 1887, the International Association from 1888 to 1890, the Eastern Association for 1891, and was renamed the Eastern League for 1892 to 18956. The league played season 12 in 1896, 130 years ago.
The Eastern League would eventually go on to form the International League, one of the top minor league teams in all of Baseball.
The season was a messy affair with teams playing in other cities during the season.
