Introduction
The New York State League was a minor league baseball league that operated in the eastern United States during the late 19th century. The New York State League which launched in 1885 would form the International League in 1886 when Canadian teams based in Ontario joined. The league played season 1 in 1885, 141 years ago.
The New York State League being a predecessor to the International League is thus one of the top minor league teams in all of Baseball. The New York State League and the Ontario League then merged in 1886 to form the International League, and in 1887 it absorbed teams from the Eastern League to create a larger league.
