North American League Attendance 2011 to 2012

The North American League (IND) was an independent professional baseball league founded in 2010. The league consisted of a merger of three independent leagues, the Northern League of Illinois, United League Baseball of Texas, and the Golden Baseball League based in the Western United States and Western Canada and was a last-ditch effort to save the teams in said league. It played only two season in 2011 and 2012.

The North American League recruited college, ex-major and ex-minor league players. Former affiliated-league players that get injured or have other circumstances would also join the NAL as an opportunity to get resigned by major league organizations. Other players consisted of college players that were not drafted into MiLB, but seek the opportunity to be seen by major league scouts and possibly get signed by major league organizations.

New York-Penn League (NYPL) is an affiliated Single-A (short season) professional baseball league founded in 1939. It operates in the U.S.A. North-East, and serves some cities served by MLB teams.

A Single-A Short Season affiliate league is slightly more limited than Class A teams with respect to player age and years of experience in professional baseball. The NYPL is one of two Short Season leagues.

Players in Short Season leagues are a mixture of newly signed draftees who are considered more advanced than other draftees, and second-year pros who were not ready or for whom there was not space at a higher level to move up.

Of the 30 major league clubs, only 13 field teams in Class A Short Season Leagues.

Midwest League Attendance 2006 to 2013

The Midwest League (ML) is an affiliated Single-A professional baseball league founded in 1954. It operates in the United States Midwest, mostly in cities not served by MLB teams or their other minor league affiliates.

A Single-A affiliate league is often a second or third promotion for a minor league player, although a few high first-round draftees, particularly those with college experience, begin at this level. These leagues play a complete season like Triple-A and Double-A, from April through to early September.

International Hockey League Attendance 2006 to 2010

The International Hockey League (IHL) was an independent professional hockey league founded in 1991 (known as the Colonial Hockey League, later United Hockey League) until it amalgamated with the Central Hockey League in 2010. It operated in the Midwest of the United States. The cities the IHL played in was not served by a NHL or their minor league affiliates.

The International Hockey League was populated by Free Agents recruited from colleges, junior leagues, and other minor leagues. Since none of the IHL Teams was not affiliated with to the NHL, the primary focus was on team success instead of player development. This IHL was the fourth league in North America that use the International Hockey League name.

 

Golden Baseball League Attendance 2006 to 2010

The Golden Baseball League (GBL) was an independent professional baseball league founded in 2oo5 and ran until 2010 when it combined with two other independent baseball leagues. It operated teams in the Western United States and Western Canada. The GBL operated in cities not directly served by Major or Minor League teams and is not affiliated with either.

The Golden Baseball League was ambitious in its recruiting of college, ex-major and ex-minor league players. Its player development was noted for having over 100 players being sold to MLB organizations during its years of operation, with seven players already making it to a major league uniform. It was a well funded league with corporate sponsorship and backers but its decision to join an ambitious national footprint led to its folding.
